There is a groupthink phenomenon that exists leading you to believe that every book can only be published if you have a long list of criteria behind your name. One of best things about being a writer is to the ability to showcase your unique talents, imagination and story as an individual.  In the past year I have been asked what my genre is? My response, "A good book is its own genre." Just another example of breaking down the cultural stereotype walls. I believe the only thing you need to publish your own novel is an idea, a keyboard and enough enthusiasm to not know any better. That's why I am self-published by choice!
